The book, prepared for the 85th anniversary of VNIGRI contains sufficiently complete and detailed description of the latest data on the geology and petroleum potential south-west of Yakutia. The territory in question is part of the largest Patom-Vilyui polygenetic megabasin has unique high hydrocarbon potential and contains all the proven and estimated reserves of oil and gas accounted state balance of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

In the light of modern scientific concepts in the book outlines the data on characteristics of the deep structure of the subsoil, the history of the development of multi-tier sedimentary cover, displays of various geological processes. Particular attention is paid to the scientific substantiation of a new model of thrust tectonics in Patom regional basin. Discussed in detail lithological features of oil and gas potential of the ancient clastic and carbonate sediments. Given geochemical data on the generation, migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons in terms of ancient Siberian platform. On the basis of the forecast oil and gas potential with the release set and projected oil and gas zones identified the main directions of exploration work to further expand the resource base of the hydrocarbon in the south-west of Yakutia.

In the book takes into account scientific developments VNIGRI recent years, including a fundamentally new direction for the justification of potentially oil-bearing areas.

The book focuses on a wide range of scholars of ancient platforms and geologists specializing in forecasting oil and gas potential of Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
